Welcome to the module on Personal Development. This is a Level 4 module, which comprises of 200 learning hours. It is available in term 1 and is a core module on the Foundation Degree.
The title of this module is Personal Development 1 and the emphasis is on improving your skills, both academically and personally. These skills that you develop will be readily implemented into the working environment and will lead to improvement in your efficiency and effectiveness.
Throughout this module you need to be aware that you are in charge of your learning and you will find that it places demands on your time. The Foundation Degree is not about memory recall, but about thinking, learning, evaluating and applying knowledge, you will learn through ‘doing' and consequently develop your learning skills.
The title of this module is Personal Development 1 and you may find that your learning skills such as reading, compilation of reports and essay writing need to be developed or changed to adapt to the academic standards that the course requires. The skills that you develop will be readily implemented into your work, which will lead to an improvement in your efficiency and effectiveness.

The successful management of a hospitality operation requires a fundamental knowledge of the range of techniques involved in the production and service of food and drink. The module aims to introduce you to the fundamental theory and practical aspects of food and beverage operations. It will also examine a range of essential skills required to operate within your own work environment.Learning experience

1. Apply the appropriate written communication techniques when analysing information.
2. Access and demonstrate the use of relevant resources.
