The purpose of this module is to give professonals in the hospitality industry a working knowledge of finance as it applies to organizations in the industry. Previous students on the course have found it intersting as well as useful in their professional life.
Through a combination of lectures, case study investigation and independent research you will develop an understanding of the need for financial management strategies and how they impact on all areas of decision-making of hospitality management.
Aim in the module is to : enable participants to recognise and explain the need for financial planning, monitoring and control within the hospitality industry.
A the end of the module you will be able to :
1. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the theories, concepts and principles of financial management in hospitality
2. Examine and evaluate a range of financial documents
3. Investigate a range of case study material to compare and contrast monitoring and controlling of finance in different areas of hospitality
4. Prepare and present cash-flow, profit and loss and balance sheets in appropriate formats using appropriate terminology
5. Investigate and evaluate major influencing factors which impact on financial decision-making.
