International Hospitality law sets out to :
Create an understanding of the scope of hospitality law and the differences between countries and an understanding of the legal responsibilities and risks of managing an hospitality enterprise.
To develop the ability to conduct basic research into legal issues.
To create a sound understanding of the law specific to hospitality operations in the international context.
- knowledge of the range of hospitality management issues affected by the law, emphasising differences between jurisdictions
Compétences
- To be able to research, compare and contrast legal issues from different jurisdictions
- An introduction to the range of law and other regulatory processes affecting the hospitality industry different legal systems and attitudes to law including common law e.g. UK and USA, civil (or codified) law e.g. France, EU law, religious based law such as Sharia, e.g. Saudi Arabia
- The hotel and the guest; rights and duties
- Real property law including planning, building, licensing
- Intellectual property law; trade marks etc
- Contract law; the hotel guest, law of agency, tour operators, yield management
- Food law
- Alcohol sales regulation
