VAE in the hotel, tourism and catering industry: what is it? 

Validation des Acquis d'Expérience is a system that enables professionals to convert their experience in the field into a diploma, without having to go back to school. The advantages are numerous in our sector, where diplomas are reassuring, and where the name of a prestigious school such as Savignac can open many doors.

For young people who have started out in the hotel business straight from school, it's an opportunity to validate several years of practical apprenticeship with a diploma. For professionals who have chosen to retrain in the hospitality industry, it's a way of finalizing and formalizing the skills they've acquired professionally.

To qualify for VAE, you need to have at least 1 year's experience in the hotel, tourism and catering sector, at a job level equivalent to the diploma in question (Bachelor's or MBA).

Certifications atÉcole de Savignac, a real career springboard

L'École de Savignac, offers you the possibility of validating, through VAE and thanks to your professional experience, two different professional certifications, corresponding to our two training programs:

RNCP38785 qualification in " Hotel, Tourism, and Restaurant Service Manager ," level 6, equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Upon completion, you will earn 180 ECTS credits.

RNCP41315 qualification in " Manager of Hotel, Tourism, and Restaurant Businesses ," level 7, equivalent to a five-year higher education degree. Upon completion, you will earn 120 ECTS credits.

Eligibility file

Discussions with our VAE manager on the scope of the requested certification and dispatch of the admissibility file (administrative file) to the applicant.

Examination of admissibility file.

If the application is eligible for VAE, we receive the notice of admissibility, the commitment to the procedure, the skills repository (booklet 2) and a guide with recommendations for completing the application.

Start of support, if you have chosen this option, with a preliminary interview to check that the candidate understands the VAE process and that their project is suitable for the VAE approach.

> Our certifications are listed on the France VAE platform: you can submit a feasibility application directly, with or without the assistance of a career guidance architect.

Creation of the validation file

The purpose of this file is to demonstrate that you have the skills, knowledge and experience to qualify for the title you are applying for.

Validation file sent.

You can prepare your application with or without support. The latter is highly recommended, as it significantly increases your chances of obtaining the qualification.

Once your application has been submitted, it is forwarded to the validation panel.

Presentation of the file to the validation jury

After approval by the jury,Ecole de Savignac will sendEcole de Savignac an invitation to an interview with the validation jury (a jury composed of four people with no connection to the candidate: 50%Ecole de Savignac staffEcole de Savignac 50% professionals).
Two sessions are organized each year: March/April and November/December.

The jury meets with you, deliberates and makes its decision.

Jury's decision

You may be awarded the title of "Service supervisor in hotels, tourism and catering" or "Manager of hotel, tourism and catering companies" in full, in part or not at all.

In the event of partial validation, the jury may ask you to do additional work and/or give an oral presentation to validate the missing skills.

Application requirements

To apply, you must have 1 year's professional experience (1607 hours) in a position covered by the certification (supervisory positions) in the hotel, restaurant or tourism sector.

You can only submit one application for the same certification per year, and no more than 3 applications per year, all certifications included.

VAE costs and financing

Expenses are related to the following items:

Administrative registration (VAE eligibility): €150.

Optional methodological support:
- With our consultant: 24-hour package, €2,400.
- Via the France VAE platform with a Career Support Architect, rates available on the website.

Administrative handling of the file, processing of the file and convening of the jury: €1,000.

VAE is part of continuing professional training. It may therefore be eligible for financial assistance under legal training schemes.
